Biscuit Bear!

In literacy we have been reading the story book Biscuit Bear, which we have all really enjoyed! On Friday Year 1 went on a local area walk and bought the ingredients to make our very own Biscuit Bears. Today we were lucky enough to be able to use the new cooking equipment to make our bears.   After decorating  tomorrow we will be writing our own set of instructions which people can follow to make their own biscuits.

Here they are cooled and ready for icing tomorrow morning!

We had an awesome time icing our biscuits!

We got extra sticky!

Local area walk

On Friday Year 1 took a walk up to Pickford Lane to have look at our nearest local amenities.

On the way we saw – the Post Office, Train station.
On Pickford Lane we saw a range of shops to cater for most everyday needs, like Browns the sweet shops, hair dressers, bakery, Fish and Chip Shop….

At the Co-op we popped in to buy some ingredients for the biscuits we are going to make next week.

Keep a look out to see how it goes next week.

E-Safety

This week in computing we watched a clip produced by children in a Greenwich school about staying safe when using computers and the internet.

Safety Girl and Cyber Boy helped us to understand the importance of E-safety in school and at home.

We know:
-   Think before you click.
-   Don’t give out personal information about yourself or your family like: your name or address.
-   Always check with an adult first if you are unsure of what you are going to click on.

We designed our own E-safety information pages.

Here we are watching the E-safety video.

Using the Laptops.

This week in Year 1, we have been learning about cinquain poems and have had a go at writing one ourselves.

A cinquain poem is a verse of five lines that do not rhyme.
The cinquain poem was created by Adelaide Crapsey.

These are some of our typed cinquain poems
