Well done Class Fern!

Wow! What an amazing performance Class Fern!

Well done for putting on a spectacular show for everyone!

Thank you so much to parents/carers for coming. We really appreciate all your help and support.

Because not all children are allowed on the blog, I will be sending home a class photo next week, of the children together in the assembly.

16.5.16 Bee Bots

In Literacy we have been reading the story of 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch.'  We had loads of fun working with the Bee Bots again on a Lighthouse Keeper themed mat.  We had to program the bee bot to deliver Mr Grinling's lunch without the seagulls getting it.

16.05.16 - The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch Bee Bot Game

We love our new story we have been reading in literacy!

This week, we have been playing with the bee bots again, this time, on a lighthouse keeper themed bee bot mat!

We had the task of programming the bee bot so the basket got from the little white cottage, all the way to the lighthouse. However, it wasn't that simple! The pesky seagulls from the story were in the way! Therefore, we had to ensure we avoided them by directing the bee bot around them.

It was a very tricky task indeed but we had a good go!

9.5.16 Phonics

We had lots of fun again today practising our phonics using the laptops. We played many different games to help us practise all our sounds.  If you would to play some of these games at home, click the link on Class Fern's post.

18.4.16 Maths Games

We used the laptops in maths today to play addition and subtraction games.
'I like doing maths on the laptop,' said Grace
'Can we play these at home?' asked Gurnek.

If you would like to play these games at home, click the link on Class Fern's post.

09.05.16 Phonics games

We love playing phonics games, especially in the lead up to the phonics screening!
We love the saying 'practice makes perfect!' :-)

We were lucky, again, to be able to have the laptops in our classroom so we could play some phonic revision games.

We like to use PhonicsPlay.com as it has lots of fantastic games.

If you would like to play these games at home, click on the picture below which will take you to the website.

26.04.16 Bee bots

We got the bee bots out again this week during computing. This time, we were trying to work out what we had done wrong when the bee bots didn't go where we wanted them to go!

We had to make sure we were following our instructions (algorithms).

We had lots of fun!

15.4.16 Algorithms

We created algorithms for the bee bots today.  Theses are a set of instructions to make the bee bot move to a certain place.  We worked in groups and wrote our instructions on white boards.
'I love working with the Bee Bots,' said Frankie.

19.04.16 - Maths Games!

Today we had the laptops in our classroom so we could play some addition and subtraction maths games!

'I love using the laptops to learn!' said Olli.
'It's cool playing games in lessons!' said Finlay.

If you would like to play any of these maths games at home, click on the link below. You will find lots of different games on here!

When you're next in school, let me know which one is your favourite or comment on this post!

15.4.16 Creating Algorithms!

Today in maths, we created algorithms for the bee-bots!

'An algorithm is a set of instructions', said Luca.

We wrote algorithms on whiteboards and then took turns to key in the instructions to see if our algorithms were correct.

18.3.16 Keep Fit Video!

Today we had lots of fun filming our 'keep fit' video for our Festival of Learning.

Some of us took turns to film different parts, on the iPad.

"It's really easy to film on an iPad because you can move it around", said Bradley.

"I always take photos on my iPad at home", said Bobbi-Jayne.

"We can pretend to be in a real film", said Isabella!

We showed our video at our Festival of Learning to our visitors and asked them to join in with us!

18.3.16 Keep fit video

Today we had loads of fun filming our keep fit video in preparation for our festival of learning. Some of us took turns to film parts of our routine using the iPads.
"This is fun!" Said James.
"We are like a film crew!" Said Sophia.
"I like using an iPad!" Said Kamila.

11.3.16 Pro-Bots

Today, we had lots of fun with the pro-bots!

Because it was the first time we played with them, we were just exploring how to get them to move, by keying in instructions.

This also links well to our maths this week, as we were able to use positional language to support our learning.

We can't wait to play with them again!

11.3.16

Today we  had fun using pro-bots. We explored how to move them by keying in instructions. We linked this to our maths this week as we have been learning about positional language.
The children had lots of fun and can't wait to work with them again!
